The Triangle Lake Bog State Nature Preserve [K-9439] is only a few miles from my house. In fact, it’s not too far from the Kent Bog that I activated the previous weekend. I’ve had this one on the list of places that are close and could be worked from the trail or the parking lot. This time, again because of weather and closed trails, I ended up in the parking lot.
This was the definition of a Grab-And-Go activation. My wife was out walking the puppy and said it was just too nice to be inside. I’d mentioned my Stupid Arbitrary Goal around park activations earlier in the weekend and she said I should run out and hit the park while the sun was out. We’ve had a lot of rain and really gross weather lately, so getting out in the sun was a good idea.
I set up in the parking lot after seeing the trail was closed. I put up the Chameleon with extension just like I did at the Kent Bog. It was quick. From arrival to being on the air was under 5 minutes this time. I’m getting better at this!
I made 11 contacts in just about 40 minutes. That definitely fit within the amount of time I had available for the park.
PSKReporter had me as being heard all over the place. That’s still nice to see even if I don’t get stations coming back. Most of my contacts were CA, OK, and TX this time out. Not sure why I was doing so well to the west, but it worked.
