The Support Your Parks event for POTA enthusiasts was the weekend of 15-17 July, 2022. I got out for it in the spring and decided to go out to support the effort. I only had a couple of hours to pull it off and I did have a park nearby that was new to me. I didn’t get any pictures and it was very brief.
Tinkers Creek State Nature Preserve – K-9438
There wasn’t really a great place for me to set up off of the trail. This very quickly turned into a parking lot activation. That’s fine. The Jeep is always ready, but it’s not the most satisfying way to work a park.
I deployed the Chameleon whip with extention on the Jeep’s antenna bracket. With the IC-705 in its cool little stand that I have for Jeep operation and my cupholder laptop table, I got to work. It was a pretty quick activation. There were, obviously, a LOT of hunters out there. I got a few park to park QSOs as well.
